  • Red Bull Music Academy & FABRICLIVE present: JJ DOOM

    May 8th 2013

w/ DJ support from Kutmah, Bambooman & Sonic Router Thursday 13th June 2013

A meeting of two titanic hip hop minds, JJ DOOM exists as an album collaboration between the underground hero, DOOM and accomplished producer, Jneiro Jarel. Called Key To The Kuffs the LP was released last year on LEX Records to widespread critical acclaim owing to its wayward fusion of mercurial emceeing and fantastically skewed production work. The latest in a line of collaborative albums for DOOM (following his collaborations with Madlib as Madvillian, with Dangermouse as Danger Doom) Key To The Kuffs followed his ground breaking Born Like This album in cementing his grasp on the record industry whilst he tacked the cadence of modern London on tracks like ‘Guv’nor’ - DOOM’s been a London resident for a couple of years now.
FABRICLIVE and Red Bull Music Academy are incredibly proud and excited to be able to announce a one off live performance from JJ DOOM at fabric on Thursday 13th June. Experiencing the rhythm and flow of DOOM’s lyrical delivery, live, is a mesmerising experience in itself and if you thought Jneiro Jarel’s intricate and soundsystem weighted production worked well on record, in a club it positively comes alive with colour creating an un-missable spectacle. After lecturing at the Red Bull Music Academy - which is itself essentially a breeding ground for emerging music makers to collaborate and exchange creative ideas - in Madrid in 2011, DOOM’s been a bit more forthcoming and his debut show here in Farringdon is a further manifestation of that working relationship.
Support on the night comes from Kutmah, himself an integral part of the Los Angeles beat scene that helped birth clubs like Low End Theory and incubated artists like Ras G, Nosaj Thing and Flying Lotus and the Sonic Router signed, Leeds based beatsmith who’s currently celebrating the release of his Hollowed EP, Bambooman.
